A northwest Oklahoma City home was damaged in an early morning fire.
According to the fire department, at about 4:20 a.m. Tuesday, firefighters responded to a fire at a small, single-family home in the 1800 block of N.W. 16th Street. When crews arrived, they reported seeing light smoke from the eaves of the home.
Firefighters entered the home and located the fire in the attic. Several joists had already burned through. Crews were able to extinguish the fire very quickly.
A resident told officials she woke up when she heard popping noises. She investigated and found smoke in the house. She then called 911 and evacuated the home.
No one was injured. The residents claimed they lost power earlier in the day, but they had no other electrical issues.
The cause of the fire is unknown. Fire officials estimate the fire caused about $15,000 of damage to the structure and contents combined.
