OKC Zoo Celebrates Elephant Achara's First Birthday

The Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden is celebrating elephant Achara’s first birthday with special events on Tuesday.

Achara was born at 1:35 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2014. She is the second elephant born at the zoo and the second offspring for mother Asha. The father is Rex.

At 2 p.m. Tuesday, Zoo officials invite Oklahomans to come see Achara and the rest of elephants enjoy treats from Whole Foods at the elephant pavilion.

The Zoo is also offering 2-for-1 admission on Tuesday.
