OKC Police: Want 'Order And Peace' When Verdict In Holtzclaw Trial Comes Down

And there is still no verdict yet in the trial against a former Oklahoma City police officer accused of sex crimes.

Daniel Holtzclaw is charged with a total of 36 felony counts. He's accused of preying on 13 women while on patrol.

The jury has been deliberating now a total of 42 hours.

Holtzclaw has not been seen since Monday, but his friends and family attorney are at the courthouse Thursday and it’s his 29th birthday. But he is spending it in the jail holding area of the courthouse and awaiting the verdict.

Although there was a peaceful rally outside on Wednesday to show support for the 13 women who testified, News 9 asked Oklahoma City Police if they were ready for any kind of protest or violence once the verdict comes down.

Police told New 9 that they want order, peace, and understanding for people’s right to protest.

“We’re prepared for it obviously, but we’re all a part of this community. We’re all in this together no matter what happens. No matter what the verdict is,” said OKC Police Captain Paco Balderamma.

"Quite frankly we just don't anticipate for there to be any negativity, any looting or rioting or anything else like that. The police department has been working very closely with all community leaders who have been organizing the demonstrations outside of the courthouse. We are in constant communication with them and they want the same thing that we do."
