Police across the metro have met with homeowners associations, specifically, to identify parks, pools, clubhouses and other places where kids could get together.
Our partners at The Journal Record report the meeting are in response to a law adopted earlier this year. The bill says registered sex offenders cannot live within 2,000 ft. of those areas, even if parks, pools and clubhouses are privately owned.
Parts of the law before only impacted public areas.
State Senator A.J. Griffin from Guthrie authored the law. She said she discovered the loophole that allowed sex offenders to live across from HOA parks.
Both Oklahoma City and Edmond are going through neighborhoods making note of these areas.
