We are now under a state of emergency after this ice storm. Thousands of people are without power Monday morning and will be for possibly a few more days.
According to OG&E System Watch, as of 9:30 p.m., about 40,550 customers are still without power, including more than 19,800 in Oklahoma City.
The power was out in parts of Yukon Monday morning. It could be until at least Tuesday before this area will see the power return.
The outages are causing a mess for businesses as well. Schools are closed Monday in Yukon and also in nearby El Reno. That city is dealing with much of the same and the lights may not return until Tuesday as well.
The Mayor, Matt White, has a plea out to the city.
"The city can't go on private property, so we're asking for people to check on your neighbors and the elderly, and help them get those limbs to the curb and make sure those limbs aren't on power lines or anything else," White said.
El Reno has a shelter set up with the help of the Red Cross. It is at the Jenks Simmons Fieldhouse and is open to anyone as they wait for power to be restored.
