Oklahoma County deputies made an unusual drug find during a traffic stop along I-35.

It was a very potent wax made from marijuana.

"The I-35 and I-40 corridor is considered the crossroads of America," Mark Opgrande with the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office said. "It's very high drug trafficking."

However, one traffic stop stood out this week, because of something called THC wax. It's just like what it sounds, and it's very concentrated and powerful.

"THC wax is a derivative of marijuana," said Opgrande. "What they do is they use a process, and it turns the marijuana into what looks like wax. It looks like an ear wax. It's very potent stuff."

A deputy noticed William Roaten driving somewhat erratically. He was changing lanes without using a signal, but the way he was acting when he got pulled over was a big signal to the deputy.

"When they talked to the driver he said he was from Indiana, and he was heading back to Indiana coming through Oklahoma and was very nervous,” said Opgrande.

The deputy called for a drug dog.

"When they searched the trunk they found approximately three and a quarter pounds of methamphetamines and also about 469 grams of THC wax," he said.

THC wax is made in a tube or pipe using butane. It's a very dangerous process and so are the effects of it - one of the many drugs stopped along Oklahoma's stretch of I-35.

Roaten was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail and is facing several charges.
