An unmanned aerial vehicle with a package full of contraband was found Monday morning on Oklahoma State Penitentiary grounds, the state corrections department reported.

About 9 a.m., a prison staff member found a UAV, also commonly known as a drone, upside down on facility grounds.

Prison security said a package was suspended under the drone with fishing line. Inside the package was two 12-inch hacksaw blades, a cellphone, a cellphone battery, a hands-free device, two packages of Newport cigarettes, two packages of Black & Mild cigars, two tubes of super glue, a bag containing 5.3 ounces of marijuana, a bag containing 0.8 ounces of methamphetamine and a bag containing less than 1 gram of heroin.

Prison staff determined the drone crashed when it hit the razor wire upon its ascent, causing it to lose control.

This attempt to smuggle contraband into a facility with a drone is the first reported incident of its kind in the state, the state corrections department said.

The drone has been turned over to the DOC's Office of the Inspector General for further investigation.
