Judge Sets Bond At $1 Million For Adacia Chambers

A bond has been set at $1 million for the driver accused of crashing her vehicle into a crowd at OSU's homecoming parade on Saturday. 

Adacia Chambers, 25, was arrested on a driving under the influence complaint shortly after the crash. She is accused of causing a crash that led to the deaths of four people and the injuries of at least 46 others. She is being held on four counts of second-degree murder.  

According to an affidavit released on Monday, while Chambers was being booked into the jail, she admitted to having a history of suicidal attempts and that she was suicidal at the time of the incident, but not at the time of booking. She denied having any other medical conditions, other than past treatment for mental health related issues. 

During an initial hearing Monday, Payne County Judge Thomas set a bond of $1 million for Chambers.

The court will continue the initial hearing at 1:30 p.m. on November 13. The State said it plans to charge Chambers with four counts of second-degree murder. They are worried about a fifth victim who is in a very fragile state. 

Adacia Chambers' attorney Tony Coleman filed paperwork at the court clerk’s office Monday, asking for a mental evaluation for Chambers. Coleman said he did not think Chambers was driving under the influence at the time, but was mentally ill.

Coleman said when he told Chambers that four people died, her response was "inappropriate." He said he had asked the judge for a $250,000 bond, but her family wouldn't have even been able to post that amount.
