Win or lose, Energy FC will play its final home match of the season on Sunday when L.A. Galaxy II comes to Oklahoma City for the USL Western Conference Finals, a 6:00 p.m. tilt at Taft Stadium. The winner advances to the USL Championship next weekend.
Goalkeeper Evan Newton was the hero of the Western semis last week, saving a pair of penalty kicks to help OKC win the shootout 4-3.
Galaxy II finished the regular season in fifth place in the West. They are led in goals by forward Ariel Lassiter, who has 13 on the year, Raul Mendoza who has 10 assists and Jack McBean has contributed six goals and six assists.
Energy FC hasn’t lost to Los Dos in two matchups this season, a 1-1 draw in Los Angeles and a 2-0 victory in Oklahoma City.
The winner of Sunday’s contest will face either the Rochester Rhinos or Louisville City FC in the USL Championship.
