Oklahoma State senior guard Phil Forte has been named Preseason All-Big 12 Honorable Mention, it was announced today in a vote of the league’s head coaches.
Forte, who ranked fourth in the Big 12 last season with 15.0 points per game, has garnered multiple postseason honors in his career, but this is his first preseason accolade.
The Flower Mound, Texas native was an All-Big 12 Third-Team selection as a junior, and shared the first-ever Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year award with Oklahoma's Ryan Spangler following his sophomore campaign. The senior is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection.
He has 1,267 career points to his credit, which ranks third among all returning Big 12 players and 22nd in Cowboy history. Forte is only 62 three-pointers behind Keiton Page for the OSU career record.
Forte and the Cowboys began full practices for the 2015-16 season on Monday. OSU will play East Central in an exhibition game Nov. 6, and open the regular season Nov. 14, hosting UT-Martin.
