Fans in Newcastle, Oklahoma, will have the first opportunity to see the 2015-16 Oklahoma City Thunder squad in action as the team brings its annual Blue and White Scrimmage to Newcastle High School on Sunday, Oct. 4.
This will be the team’s eighth annual Blue and White Scrimmage, held each year during U.S. Cellular Thunder Training Camp.
The Thunder team will take the court at 3 p.m. for an open practice that also includes several Thunder game-night features, such as Rumble the Bison, the Thunder Girls, Thunder Drummers and Storm Chasers. Prior to the scrimmage, the team will hold Thunder Alley starting at noon outside the school, where fans will be able to enjoy the OG&E ThunderBolt, pop-a-shot, sport court, the Thunder merchandise trailer and appearances by Thunder entertainers.
“We are thrilled to be bringing the Thunder experience to Newcastle,” said Thunder Senior Vice President Brian Byrnes. “The Newcastle community has shown its loyal support for our team and its excitement to host this event at every stage of this process.
“The annual Blue and White Scrimmage gives us an outstanding opportunity to connect with communities across the state and recognize Thunder fans in their hometowns. We are humbled by the support we continue to receive across Oklahoma,” he added.
This is the first Blue and White Scrimmage to be held in Newcastle. In previous years, the event has taken place in Choctaw, Moore, Bixby, Bethany, Yukon, Midwest City and Oklahoma City.
Thunder fans in the Newcastle area are invited to take part in the Thunder Alley festivities. Tickets for the scrimmage are being distributed by the Newcastle High School administration in order to best serve the Newcastle High School community.
