Students have been back to school for a few weeks now, so it's time to really figure things out.
We're talking school lunches, and we’re going to the test to see what's best or worst for lunch. This is a list we compiled from several sites and we wanted to see what grade does each snack get, “A” or “F” for lunch?
CHIPS: F
This is easy. It could be a salty treat.
Kids need snacks that will leave them feeling full.
Chips only leave them wanting more.
ALMONDS: A
Called a nutritional powerhouse,
Great for energy and rich in Vitamin E which is good for the immune system.
Pumpkin Seeds are also beneficial.
We're getting into fall, could be fun and can save after carving a pumpkin.
WHOLE GRAIN CEREAL: A+
Fortified with B-Vitamins -- great for energy.
Can be switched out with a sandwich
A ton of fiber and it keeps your kids full and focused.
JUICE BOX: F
It's easy and most say made with real fruit juice.
The drinks are high in sugar and calories.
May make will have them bouncing off the walls at school.
FRUIT SNACKS: F
It really depends. If made with real fruit with no added sugar and nothing artificial, from colors to preservatives, those are OK.
But it’s always best to grab a piece of fresh whole fruit instead.
Other Top Items: Bananas, Citrus Fruits, crunchy raw vegetables, eggs, fish and milk.
