Man Pleads Guilty To Manslaughter Charge In Crash That Killed OHP Trooper

The driver accused in a crash that killed an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper and injured another one has pleaded guilty to a manslaughter charge.

The driver accused in a crash that killed an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper and injured another one has pleaded guilty to a manslaughter charge.

Steven Wayne Clark pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter Friday morning, according to Seminole County Clerk. His sentencing will take place on December 8. 

The crash happened on the westbound side of I-40, just east of Shawnee around 10 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31.

Trooper Nicholas Dees and Trooper Keith Burch were investigating a semi-truck crash when they were both hit by Clark’s car. Dees was killed and Burch was severely injured.

Authorities said Clark was updating his social media page on his phone at the time of the crash.
