Joe Mixon Impresses In Fall Camp

Sooner running back Joe Mixon continues to impress in fall practice in Norman. Mixon and Samaje Perine, a potentially lethal combination, will be on the field a lot together this fall.

“You know, when a guy is that big you don’t expect him to be able to make people miss like he does,” Bill Bedenbaugh, offensive line coach, said. “I’m not say he does it like this but you guys have seen Tavon Austin. He’s got the ability to make you miss, he’s got the ability to go the distance, but he’s got the ability to run you over. You just don’t see many guys like that. There’s very few guys in the country like him.”

“He’s very elusive,” echoes Perine. “He has great hands and great speed. He’s kind of a big guy but once he gets in the open field there’s not many guys who can catch him.”
