Midwest City is closing one of its six fire stations to streamline costs.
The fire chief said the new fire station one at SE 15 Street and N. Douglas Boulevard will be repurposed as a place house equipment and conduct firefighter training.
But response times will not be impacted and no jobs will lost.
"Today, we've got 19 firefighters on duty at a minimum. Tomorrow, we will (have 19) and so will Sept. 1 when the reorganization takes place," Midwest City fire Chief Bert Norton said.
The chief said the five remaining stations will continue serving the City of Midwest City.
