Let me be blunt. At this point, you'd have to be brainless to deny our military men and women the right to carry their weapons while serving here at home.
How many times do we have to watch terrorists massacre our troops because a politician decided guns are just too dangerous, even though our troops are highly trained with them?
All four of these Marines and a sailor didn't have to die in Chattanooga, Tennessee. You know one of them could have taken out Mohammad Abdulazeez, if they'd been allowed to carry a firearm at their recruiting station.
And hats off to the former Marines licensed to carry firearms who have decided to stand guard outside recruiting stations until Congress and the President do the right thing and change the regulations.
This policy of strictly limiting how many and which service members can carry a weapon away from the front lines goes back to George H.W. Bush, and has carried on since then.
But we don't live in the same world we lived in back in 1992, when this directive was signed.
Our military is hated and is being targeted by suicide attackers abroad and here at home. It is way past time we trust our defenders to defend themselves.
Washington, get it done.
I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
