Officials with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation said northbound and southbound I-35 traffic will be slowed and stopped temporarily near Turner Falls in Murray County, Oklahoma, Friday morning.
At 9 a.m., Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers will stop traffic on I-35 for limited blast work associated with ongoing removal of a rock slide in the Arbuckle Mountains. Traffic is expected to be stopped for about 20 minutes and lanes will reopen once the area is safe for drivers.
Drivers wishing to avoid the I-35 corridor can use US-81 to the west through Duncan or US-69 to the east through Durant, officials said.
Northbound and southbound I-35 remains narrowed to one lane in each direction and speed limits are reduced to 50 mph through late August. Drivers can expect congestion and delays, especially during peak travel times like weekends and holidays.
Additionally, I-35 is narrowed to one lane in each direction in Ardmore for ongoing bridge rehabilitation work, according to ODOT officials.
