ODOT Crew Member Killed In Work Zone Accident In Grady Co.

An ODOT representative said a transportation equipment operator with the department was killed in a work zone accident in Grady County on Friday. The crash happened in Rush Springs at the the intersection of Highways 17 and 81.

ODOT said Gordon Pipkin was 47 years old and had only been with the department since last month.

He worked for the maintenance crew in Grady County. Pipkin also served as police chief in Rush Springs in previous years.

ODOT's Cody Boyd said Pipkin was the 58th employee in the history of the department to be killed in the line of duty.
