Mid-America Christian University men's basketball senior guard Semar Farris and women's basketball senior guard Ashlee Ferguson have each received National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) first-team All-American honors, the organization released on Friday.
For the season, Farris paced the Evangels in points (17.4 ppg), assists (173), steals (81) and threes (89). His steal total ranked third overall in the NAIA, while his assist total was fourth.
It marks the second straight season that the Ft. Worth, Texas native has dished out 173 assists, as both are the highest single-season assist totals in school history as an NAIA school.
In addition to their initial NAIA National Championship tournament appearance, Farris also helped the Evangels win 25 games, their most since joining the NAIA along with their first-ever Sooner Athletic Conference regular season championship.
Ferguson wrapped up her career with the most points scored (998) by a Lady Evangel since the school joined the NAIA in 2007.
The Colony, Texas native paced the Lady Evangels this season in points (16.0 ppg) and threes (84) while also scoring a single-game record 42 points in a victory earlier this season at John Brown University (2/12/15).
Ferguson helped the Lady Evangels (16-13, 9-9 SAC) tie for fifth in the Sooner Athletic Conference this season, equaling their best conference finish from last season as an NAIA school.
