NWS: Multiple Small Tornadoes Touched Down In Moore, OKC

Preliminary reports from the National Weather Service (NWS) have indicated that, out of all of the tornadoes that touched down in Oklahoma City or Moore on Wednesday, at least one rated as an EF-1.

Preliminary reports from the National Weather Service (NWS) have indicated that, out of all of the tornadoes that touched down in Oklahoma City or Moore on Wednesday, at least one rated as an EF-1.

As of 4 p.m., the NWS told News 9 that they felt confident in saying more than one tornado touched down. Damage from the storm was indicative of a high-level EF-1, but meteorologists will continue to review the area and the storm may get graded higher, according to the NWS.

There is no specific number of tornadoes at this time. According to NWS meteorologists, rear flank downdraft winds measured at 70 to 80 miles per hour, with multiple, embedded brief tornadoes.
