Fredrick Mother and Boyfriend Charged In The Death of 18-Month-Old Child

A mother and her boyfriend are arrested in the death of an 18-month-old child after autopsy results revealed head injuries.

Friday, February 27, the Fredrick Police Department along with the assistance of the OSBI began an investigation into the suspicious death of the 18-month-old.

The child's mother and her boyfriend took the baby to the hospital because he was unresponsive. But, an hour later the baby was pronounced dead.

An autopsy determined the child had a skull fracture and a subdural hematoma. He also had bruising inside his lips, on his forehead, and the back of his head, and right ear.

OSBI filed a warrant for the arrests of the mother, 21-year-old Kelly Fairchild, and her boyfriend 27-year-old Gregory Scott Miller Jr. Both are being charged with First Degree Murder.

Miller told an agent he accidentally stepped on the child the night the boy was taken to the hospital. Fairchild told the agent the child was lethargic and slept most of the day Thursday, a day before his death.
