A Sallisaw man is behind bars Tuesday night, accused of shooting his own mother to death.
Police began investigating after being called out in response to a deceased woman in a car in the 800 block of Ruth St. just after midnight. Responding officers discovered the body of Karen Gregg, 56, dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head inside of the car.
A witness in the area told police they saw a man standing outside of the vehicle and then heard a loud pop which they believed to be a gunshot. That witness was able to give police a description of the suspect.
Sallisaw Police and agents with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) were able to recover evidence from the crime scene that linked back to Gregg's son, 35-year-old Jessie Mosby, who happened to match the description given to them by the witness.
Investigators located Mosby at a home he had shared with his mother. Inside the home they located more evidence that linked back to a possible murder weapon. Police then found a gun, that they believe was used in the crime, discarded in a yard on Druery Ln.
Mosby was soon arrested and booked into the Sequoyah County Jail on one count of First-Degree Murder.
