A metro school's chess team with a history of winning on a state and national level is looking to continue its success.

Edmond's Ida Freeman Elementary students on the chess team have won 25 state championship chess titles and won their first national title in 2014 in Dallas.

The day after that win, the team's coach David Nichols said the players began preparing for another national championship title.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the team attend the 2015 National Elementary Chess Championship, which will be in Nashville, Tennessee beginning on May 8. The funds will be used for hotel, bus transportation, meals and entry fees, according to the account description.

Nichols said 14 players from last year's championship team are returning this year. “We stand a great chance of repeating,” he said.
