An Oklahoma City man was arrested after allegedly beating a dog causing hemorrhaging in its right eye and “obvious swelling injuries to its head,” according to animal welfare officials.
On Dec. 22, a neighbor told police she recorded the thumps and the dog yelping in pain. Officers said they listened to the recording and went into the residence to find an injured dog with a broken TV, a bicycle, a chair and a bed frame piled on top of the dog, leaving it no room to move.
Authorities said the dog's owner, Kevin Garrison, told them he could not and would not seek veterinary care for the dog.
The dog was removed by the Oklahoma City Animal Welfare and taken to an emergency veterinary clinic.
Court documents showed Garrison faces one count of animal cruelty.
