Facebook wasn't even created until ten years ago, and since then social media sites become just part of the patrol for law enforcement.
Protests continue across the nation. Most, if not all, of the protests are filled with chants against police officers.
But of late, police opposition has taken a deadly turn. Two New York City officers were recently ambushed and shot to death while sitting in their patrol car.
Two other officers in L.A. were involved in a shootout after being ambushed. No one was injured and two men are in custody.
"You almost have to have eyes on all sides of your head," said Oklahoma FOP President Ron Bartmier.
Oklahoma Fraternal Order of Police President and retired officer Ron Bartmier knows every officer must always be aware even when a threat isn't physically present.
"We take any information that we get concerning any threats regardless of where the information comes from," said Bartmier.
Within the last eight days, Oklahoma City Police have arrested Tavon Railback and Bradley Rodriguez for making threats against officers.
Railback made a post that police say read, "Bust some shots at a cop, and watch his body fall."
"If they don't like the arrest or any kind of situation with the officer, their answer is with the court system. It's not fighting the officer or being aggressive with officers," said Bartmier.
As for those who may continue to make threats against officers, Bartmier hopes their statements are met with their own opposition.
"What we really need more than anything is for the good citizens of the state to step up and say enough is enough," said Bartmier.
Police would not go into detail on how they came across Railback's social media threat, but were notified of Rodriguez's threat through an informant.
