Holiday air travelers have a new long-term parking option near World Rogers World Airport, and the price is right. It's called 'USAPARK OKC' and it sits right where the old 'Parking Spot' used to be, just north of the airport.
The May 2013 tornado destroyed the old 'Parking Spot' location.
USAPARK OKC is punctuated by two huge American flags on 210-foot-tall flag poles along with more than 200 covered parking spaces.
USAPARK OKC officials said they are running an internet special for first-time customers. You can park your vehicle there for as many as five days, for just $2 a day.
“It seemed like a good idea. We checked it out online and it seemed like it would be a good idea,” said Ryan Nelson, as he and his girlfriend climbed aboard a shuttle for a four-minute drive to the airport terminal.
They are flying to Denver to see her parents for Christmas. “The shuttle thing isn't too much of a hassle,” he said. “It seems like a very good way to save money for us.”
Will Rogers World Airport spokesperson Karen Carney said the airport has more than 7,200 parking spaces. She said as of Monday, they were still less than 60 percent capacity.
