An online fundraiser account has been set up to help a McLoud, Oklahoma, police officer who was seriously injured in a crash Tuesday morning.
According to authorities, a patrol car driven by Officer Alan Smith was hit by a garbage truck on Highway 102 near Parkwood Road.
Smith's car was struck on the driver's side. He was pinned inside the car for about 45 minutes before being freed by emergency crews. He was medi-flighted to the OU Medical Center, suffering from several internal injuries.

Smith is in a medically-induced coma. Authorities said he is in serious condition, but is expected to survive.
The trash truck driver suffered minor injuries and has been treated and released from the hospital. The cause of the collision remains under the investigation of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
According to a GoFundMe account, Smith has a 5-year-old son, a fiancée, and a new baby on the way. The website's goal is to raise $10,000 to help Smith and his family.
