Pedestal Oil company wants OKC to give it permission to drill near the South shore of Lake Hefner. That concerns me on a number of fronts, including the potential danger to a water supply, and disrupting a popular recreational area.
Here's what you had to say:
Rob first: "Our city can't be that hard up for money where we have to mess our parks or lakes."
Rakavic writes: "I can see it now, Okc. lets them drill and they accidentally create a fissure and the lake drains."
But Blake in Ringwood argues: "..heavy traffic does not last but a month or a month and a half. 2nd being the location of the site you can guarantee it will be the cleanest nicest site all said and done."
Wade writes: "What about a possible well blow out and the affect on homes and businesses. and that is worst case. I say ABSOLUTELY NO!!"
Carey adds: "The oil Company's wont stop till they have everything."
Stacey from Norman disagrees: "DRILL!!! I support the oilfield cause the oilfield supports me!!"
Deb says: "What dividends it might bring are not worth changing the landscape and spill after effects."
From Glenda: "NO-come on, we should not have to even answer this!"
Finally, Chester in Yukon says: ".. is the chance, however small, worth taking if there is any possibility of losing a major reservoir. An oil spill could contaminate the lake for years to come."
I'm Kelly Ogle and that's Your 2 Cents.
