The Cleveland County District Attorney has cleared a police officer of any wrongdoing in the shooting death of a suspect, who is accused of stabbing a police K9 to death.

Cleveland County DA Greg Mashburn told News 9 Friday afternoon that he has sent a letter to Oklahoma City Police Chief Bill Citty, clearing Staff Sgt. Ryan Stark of any wrongdoing in the shooting death of the suspect, Mark Salazar. In that letter, District Attorney Mashburn said he made the decision after reviewing investigative reports, photographs, witness statements and other documents.

According to police, on August 24, K9 Kye was stabbed multiple times by Salazar, after Salazar led officers on a high-speed chase. Kye's partner, Sgt. Ryan Stark, tried to stop Salazar from repeatedly stabbing Kye, but could not. Stark fired the fatal shot that ended the attack.
