Parents in Logan County were on alert after Guthrie School officials notified them that an elementary student had been diagnosed with meningitis. It turns out, the student does not have the virus after all.
"The Guthrie News Page" confirmed the news Wednesday night. It's unclear what illness the student does have, because privacy laws prevent the information from being released.
Officials said the student was attending Guthrie Upper Elementary School. Health officials said they understand the news is unsettling, but they do not believe the public is at risk.

The Logan County Health Department advised the school that closing is not necessary, and so far, no classes have been canceled.
Anyone with questions should call the Logan County Health Department.
