Man Charged With Murder In NW OKC Apartment Shooting

A man was charged in a fatal shooting that happened last week at an apartment complex in northwest Oklahoma City.

According to court documents filed Thursday, 45-year-old Sam Joe Hilter Neal, Jr. has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of 23-year-old Nicholas Neal Scott.

Police said they responded to the Donita Apartments on the night of Oct. 1 and found Scott in the courtyard, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Scott was reportedly shot after an altercation, and he later died at a local hospital.

Court documents state the witnesses told detectives they heard an argument between the two men, saw the suspect fire a weapon and the victim fall to the ground. Police said the suspect was last seen running northwest from the scene.

Detectives said the witnesses identified the suspect as Sam and said he doesn't live at the complex, but had recently been visiting the resident in the evenings. They also said they believed Sam was dating one of the resident's sisters.

On Oct. 2, authorities said one witness was shown a photo line-up, and they identified Neal as the shooter.
