Oklahoma State quarterback Daxx Garman was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. Garman torched a hapless Texas Tech defense for 370 yards passing and accounted for five scores – one on the ground – in the 45-35 victory on Thursday.
Garman completed a pass of 20 or more yards to six different receivers in leading the Cowboys to their sixth consecutive win against the Red Raiders. His 21.8 yard-per-completion average is the 10th best performance in school history.
It was just the second career start for the junior journeyman. Garman still has plenty of room for improvement but his skill in the vertical passing game is unmatched by a Cowboy signal caller this side of Brandon Weeden.
Garman has thrown for 929 yards, eight touchdowns and two interceptions since taking the reins from the injured J.W. Walsh.
