Cashion Celebrates 'Mums The Word' Festival

The city of Cashion welcomes residents and visitors to bring their families and celebrate the beginning of fall at the 2nd Annual Mums the Word Festival from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on September 27.

This family-friendly, main street festival will feature mum sales, face painting until 2 p.m., a tractor show, quilt show, bicycle rally, art show, children's activity tents, sidewalk chalk art, veteran's balloon release and food and craft vendors. Lunch and pies sales will be available at the Cashion United Methodist Church, located at 210 W. Buena Vista Avenue.

The event will end with a street dance starting at 6 p.m. on south Main Street.

The Cashion Long-Range Planning Committee is working to improve their city through community projects and events.

Jennifer Stone with the Cashion Long-Range Planning Committee said last year's Mums the Word Festival raised funds to purchase planters for their Main Street Phase I project, and the community volunteered to plant and maintain the gardens. She said their Color Me Spring event, along with a grant, has helped pushed them to their goal, but they are hoping this year's fall festival will complete it.

Stone also said the city implemented “Movie at the Park” nights over the summer and screened three movies to increase community interactions.
