Close to two dozen Tecumseh High School football players are suspended following a fight on the field last week.
The Shawnee News-Star says 21 players from Tecumseh High School will miss Friday night's game because of what happened during last week's game.
The paper says there was a big bench-clearing brawl in last week's game match-up between Tecumseh and Meeker High Schools. Tecumseh head coach Jason Murray confirmed the suspensions to the News-Star on Tuesday, adding that five players will miss the next two games.
The Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association would not confirm the penalties. It only says the investigation is still ongoing and there is no timeline for when it might be concluded.
After the fight last week, four players from Tecumseh were immediately ejected from the game. Three from the team in Meeker were also ejected but it's not clear if they had additional punishment added on.
Tecumseh plays Tuttle Friday night in Tuttle.
