One Critical After Suspected DUI Crash In Payne County

One man is in critical condition after crashing his truck on a rural stretch of State Highway 51, just east of Stillwater, in what police suspect was the result of driving under the influence.

One man is in critical condition after crashing his truck on a rural stretch of State Highway 51, just east of Stillwater, in what police suspect was the result of driving under the influence.

According to a report, 44-year-old Dean Burch was traveling westbound on SH 51 when he lost consciousness and left the roadway to the left, down an embankment and finally striking a tree.

Burch was transported from the scene via ambulance to the Stillwater Medical Center. He was then transferred to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa where he is listed in Critical Condition.

Authorities detected the odor of alcohol on Burch at the scene of the crash. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
