Fire Safety Through Training (FSTAR) is set to provide free training for Oklahoma City firefighters this week.
The organization's expert will focus the lessons on modern fire behavior and new firefighting techniques. Dr. Dan Madrzykowski of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) said modern materials used in construction, furnishing and household items now cause fires to grow at a faster rate, burn more intensely and put crews at a greater risk of severe injury.
The seminar will be Friday at 8:30 a.m. at the Metro Tech Conference Center on Springlake Drive in Oklahoma City.
