A man is facing multiple charges after he was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and leading Oklahoma County deputies on a chase in a car with a stolen license plate.
According to the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s office, just after 10 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5, a deputy noticed a vehicle, parked in the parking lot of a store at N.W. 10th and May Avenue, with a license plate that had been reported stolen. The deputy called for assistance from a second deputy, and they waited for the driver of the car to come out of the store.
When the driver, 43-year-old Brian Lane Wibben, came out of the store and got into his car, the deputies attempted to make a traffic stop. However, Wibben continued driving until he got to the 2300 block of N.W. 12th Street, where he jumped out of the moving car. The car ended up rolling into an apartment building, according to deputies.
The passenger in the car was immediately detained. A short time later, deputies determined that Wibben lived at the apartment complex. They spoke with Wibben’s roommate, who gave them permission to search the apartment.
Wibben was found hiding in a closet inside one of the bedrooms, according to the Sheriff’s office. While speaking with Wibben, deputies said Wibben appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, which he later admitted.
Wibben was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on several charges, including DUI, obstruction, possession of stolen property and eluding. He is currently being held on $6,000 bond.
