Any media day always produces some pretty memorable quotes. Here are some of the best from Day One of Big 12 Media Days in Dallas.
-Art Briles on looking at the helmet with the new Big 12 logo on the table in front of him- “Guess they went $59.95 for the new Big 12 helmet. Need to shine it up and put a little flavor on the table.”
-Bob Bowlsby on 10 teams in the Big12- “The question has been frequently asked why XII since you only have one zero, and the answer is we’re numerically challenged.”
-Mike Gundy on how things have changed over his 10 years in Stillwater- “So from a personal standpoint, I couldn’t be any more proud of who we are and the direction that we’re going. But it has changed considerably, just like walking in right now, I felt like Britney Spears walking in here with all the cameras and the pictures. And when I walked in the first year, I’m not sure that a lot of people didn’t think I wasn’t just working at the hotel.”

-Briles in response to Baylor being considered a heavyweight in the Big 12 this season- “So heavyweight, you know what I mean, I try to eat as healthy as possible, so I don’t know about all that. But we certainly don’t feel that way as a program.”
-Charlie Weis on if he could put a guess on the number of wins Kansas will have this year- “Yes, I can. No, I won’t.”
-Briles on defensive tackle Shawn Oakman- “If you’re looking for a friend, he’s a good one to have, if you like winning.”
-Kliff Kingsbury’s opening statement- “Let’s just get to the questions.”
-Weis on Kansas participating in the game that will feature the first female official in Big 12 history- “I’ll try to watch my language. I believe in the old-fashioned way. So I’ll try not to use as many bad words.”

-Gary Patterson’s quizzical answer on how he feels about TCU running a more up-tempo offense- “I like Gatorade. When you have to beat people 17-13 just drinking water, you’d like to be able to go back and find out what the different Gatorades are and do everything, you know, for a few years, Rose Bowl year and all that when you score a lot of points.”
-During the breakout session, Weis barged into the throng around Briles and demanded for him to show him how to snap the football in 10 seconds or less. It drew a big laugh from Briles and the reporters around him.
-Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty on Baylor’s new stadium- “I took a tour of it the other day and it’s like the ninth wonder of the world—with the eighth being Jerryworld—but not a billion dollars.
-Petty on what it feels like to be suffering three-and-outs on offense and being knocked out of a rhythm- “It’s like a date that goes haywire. You can’t wait for it to end.”
