Day 3 had some moving and shaking at the top of the leader board at the U.S. Senior Open at Oak Tree National.
After leading for the first two days, Colin Montgomerie struggled a bit on Saturday with 3-over par 74 to fall into fourth place, making room for Gene Sauers to move into the top spot at 7-under pat after shooting a Saturday-best 68 in Edmond.
Sauers has is the only golfer to shoot under par all three days, shooting 69, 69 and 68, respectively.
Bernhard Langer and Scott Dunlap are deadlocked for second place at 4-under with Montgomerie’s 3-under putting him in sole possession of fourth.
Marco Dawson, Vijay Singh and Jeff Sluman are in a three-way tie for fifth place at 2-under heading into Sunday’s final round.
As for the Oak Tree Gang, Gil Morgan stands at 9-over after shooting a 73 on Saturday, Bob Tway moved to 9-over, as well, with a 75 and Willie Wood shot a 77 to move to 11-over. Scott Verplank missed the cut on Friday.
