It was just the seventh place game in the Orlando Summer League, but the Thunder and Heat put on quite the performance.
The two teams put on a show in Orlando on Friday, with the Thunder coming out on top, 103-98.
Despite playing without Jeremy Lamb and Steven Adams who sat out the game, several OKC players stepped up, including all three 2014 draft picks, who combined for 52 points against Miami on 21-of-32 shooting.
Josh Huestis scored 17 points, Semaj Christon also scored 17 and Mitch McGary scored 18 points. Huestis’ performance was particularly encouraging. The No. 29 pick was met with a lot backlash and also hadn’t performed very well in the Thunder’s previous four games.
Perry Jones continued his impressive play as well, hitting 7-of-11 shots to lead the Thunder with 20 points. He also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Most encouraging about Jones’ performance on Friday and throughout the week was his performance from 3-point range. Jones was 4-of-6 from deep on Friday and 9-of-19 for the week.
Andre Dawkins led the Heat with 27 points, shooting a sizzling 7-of-12 from 3-point range. Justin Hamilton added 20 points, with Tyler Johnson adding 17 points and Tyler Honeycutt adding 16 points.
