Oklahoma Man Indicted For 2007 Death Of Ex-Girlfriend

CORDELL, Oklahoma -- New details in a seven year old murder case emerge after an indictment is unsealed in the case of a missing Oklahoma woman.

Ronnie Denny, Jr. is charged with the first degree murder of his ex-girlfriend, Melissa Flores, 27, of Cordell. Flores disappeared in 2007, and her body has never been found. However, her murder case is moving forward.

Posters line the United Supermarket in Cordell where Flores' mother works, but there is one poster that is no longer hanging in the window.

“Whenever you come in, and you see a poster hanging in the window, it would tear your heart out knowing what the family is going through,” said a Cordell resident.

For years, missing person fliers for Melissa Flores were taped up in just about every store in town, but when word spread that Denny was indicted on one count of first degree murder, those posters came down.

The indictment against Denny was unsealed Tuesday morning, and listed as an endorsed witness before the grand jury is Jason Canterberry.

Canterberry allegedly came forward after Flores' disappearance and told investigators that Denny had confessed to him that he killed Flores, shooting her with a 9mm rifle.

Seven years later, the indictment against Denny alleges Flores died after Denny shot her with a 9mm rifle.

“To watch the family have closure, to finally have closure after all these year, all the pain has to stop sometime,” an acquaintance said.

Denny is sitting behind bars in Texas, and authorities tell News 9, he may not be back in Oklahoma for another 30-45 days.
