After what I saw yesterday, I'm convinced that the situation along our southern border has become a powder keg.
For years, most Americans ignored or passively accepted the misguided notion that small groups of people were wandering through the Mexican dessert and slipping into our country. Most had no idea how out of control it was, but it's come to a head. People are now seeing children crossing the border alone, and I believe this may be the tipping point.
Yesterday, about 100 angry Americans in Murietta, Calif. stood in the roadway and blocked three buses full of illegal immigrants caught in Texas and being transferred to their town. The protesters were yelling at the people on board the buses to go home.
I understand their frustration, and I know it must have been scary for the people on the buses, especially the children.
Just bad all the way around.
The buses turned around and went to San Diego.
I think you're going to see a lot more of these protests, and what kind of outrage will there be when an American is arrested and jailed for protesting along the border while immigrants who break the law crossing the border are being put up in hotels at taxpayer expense.
That's right. We're paying for hotel rooms for some of them, because they've run out of room in the detention centers.
Amazing...
