State Sen. Al McAffrey has a slight lead in the Democrat race for Oklahoma's 5th District U.S. Representative seat, according to a News 9 poll, but most voters are still undecided.

The survey of 674 likely Democrat voters indicates 15.7 percent support McAffrey, 11.3 percent favor UCO professor Tom Guild and 8.4 percent support Leona Leonard, chair of the Seminole County Democratic Party.

Nearly two-thirds of likely voters, 64.6 percent, are undecided, according to the poll.

"[Democratic candidates] are struggling right now, with not only getting the name recognition into the district, but there's also just a high level of disengagement among Democrats here in ‘red' Oklahoma," said Bill Shapard, CEO of SoonerPoll.com.

A candidate needs to get more than 50 percent of votes cast in the June 24 primary to avoid a runoff. The Democrat winner will face a Republican challenger and three Independent challengers in the Nov. 4 general election.
