Oklahoma State junior centerfielder Shelby Davis and senior pitcher Simone Freeman were named to the 2014 All-Big 12 Softball team, the conference office announced Tuesday. Davis was also selected to the All-Defensive Team.
A two-time all-conference selection, this is the first time that Davis has been named to the first team. This is also her first selection to the all-defensive team. This season, Davis hit .385 with 41 stolen bases and only committed four errors in centerfield.
This is the first selection for Freeman, who landed on the All-Big 12 second-team. A native of Sydney, Australia, Freeman had a 21-17 record this season with a 2.31 earned run average and 286 strikeouts.
Since the Big 12 formed in 1996, OSU has had at least one all-conference selection every season. This is the first time since 2011 that a Cowgirl was a first-team selection.
