A 26-year-old Moore man who will soon be a father is also in desperate need of a new heart.
Jeremy Phillips is a 2006 Chickasha High School graduate. Back in January, doctors diagnosed him with an enlarged heart condition he has been carrying around since before he was born. His cardiologist at Integris Baptist Medical Center says Phillips needs a new heart to survive.
On Thursday, Phillips learned that he fits all the criteria, and he should get a new heart in the next two to eight weeks.
"I've been getting a lot of texts and phone calls, it makes me feel good," he said.
"His chances are extremely good. Fortunately since he's been identified early, his other organs haven't been affected, so he's up there on the list," said cardiologist Dr. Anita Phancao.
Phillips works as a Service Consultant at Bob Howard Hyundai. His wife Emily is 18 weeks pregnant. They both learned Thursday that not only is Jeremy officially on the "the waiting" list for new heart, they learned their child is a boy.
"I don't know what my condition would be if I didn't have all the support," he said.
If you would like to help Jeremy and his family, a fund has been established in his name at any metro Oklahoma City MidFirst Bank location.
