Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told News 9 on Monday that as many as 90 percent of Americans who have enrolled in Obamacare have also paid their first month's premium.
Sebelius based her statement on information from private insurance companies selling plans on the federal health insurance marketplace.
"[Insurance companies] tell us that for their initial customers, it is somewhere between 80 to 85, some say as high as 90 percent have paid so far," Sebelius told News 9's Stan Miller.

"Companies have different timetables for when their new customers have to send their first payment."
Sebelius noted that enrollees are not fully covered until they make their first payment.
She said more than six million Americans have enrolled before Monday's deadline to get coverage.
