A murder suspect made his first run at representing himself in court.

Fabion Brown is charged in his estranged wife's murder-for-hire plot.

"It's the first time. You make mistakes. I will be ready next time," said Brown.

Brown cross examined several witness during the court proceedings, including two Midwest City police officers involved in the domestic case between Brown and the murder victim, Jessica McPherson Brown

The victim was found shot to death inside her Midwest City home in 2012. Prosecutors allege brown paid a hit man $250 to kill his estranged wife, Jessica.

Brown argues there's insufficient evidence in the case. He also challenged an acquaintance who testified the victim was afraid of Brown and feared for her life.

The state is seeking the death penalty. Prosecutors cannot comment on pending cases.
