Police have identified a man who was shot and killed by Lawton police officers after he reportedly answered the door with a gun in his hand.
According to Lawton police, at about 1:18 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a vandalism report in the 4100 block of S.W. Park Ridge Blvd. The caller stated that three men were outside vandalizing the vehicles.
However, when the officers arrived at the scene, they said they did not find the suspects. They also checked the vehicles in the driveway of the home, and no vandalism or damage to any vehicle was found.

While checking the vehicles, officers heard a loud commotion and yelling coming from inside of the home. Two officers attempted to make contact at the front door, when a voice from inside told them to come on in, according to the police report.
The officers tried to open the door but it was locked, police said. The officers then heard someone at the door, so they stepped back. And a man opened the door and stepped outside.
Once the man stepped outside, a third officer heard one of the officers at the door yell "gun." That's when shots were fired, which resulted in the male resident being shot, according to police.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as 47-year-old Daniel Martin.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the case. The two officers involved in the shooting, Anthony Edwards and Eli Garcia, have been placed on administrative leave pending OSBI's investigation.
