For more than a decade, the University of Oklahoma has exhibited a piece of Nazi-looted artwork bequeathed to it by the wife of an oil tycoon.
Leone Meyer, who lives in France and is Jewish, has sued the university in New York federal court to get the 1886 Camille Pissarro painting "Shepherdess Bringing in Sheep" back. It belonged to her parents before World War II.

The school maintains it is the rightful owner, citing a Swiss court decision from 1953 that found post-war owners had done their due diligence.
Aaron and Clara Weitzenhoffer bought the painting in 1956. Clara gifted it to the university upon her death in 2000.
University President David Boren says the university must avoid setting a bad precedent.
