We're fortunate to have more than 500 museums to visit in our state. Most are privately funded. For some, we are paying to keep the doors open.
Thirty-two Oklahoma museums are funded with our tax dollars. They're all over the state, but a few we're familiar with include the Oklahoma History Center, Sam Noble Museum of Natural History and the 45th Infantry Division Museum.
See how much we are paying to each state supported museum.
This fiscal year we paid $6,121,101 to help keep the 32 state funded museums up and running.
If you're wondering why we pay for some museums but not others, the legislature decides which museums get state funding.
